"Yossi & Jagger" Wins Awards Ohad Knoller (Yossi) wins Best Actor prize at Tribeca
Ohad Knoller, up and coming young Israeli actor, shared the best actor award at the Tribeca film festival for his role as Yossi, the platoon commander having a secret gay love affair with one of his officers, in acclaimed Israeli short feature "Yossi & Jagger".
The film participated in the official feature film competition at Tribeca Film Festival in New York City along with 14 other independent films from all over the world.
Winners were announced at the closing ceremony held at Stuyvesant High School in NYC. American director Nora Efron headed the jury that included actress Parker Posey, director Stephen Gaghan and the playwright Jon Robin Baitz. Actress Whoopy Goldberg presented the best Actor Award. In Mr. Knoller's absence, director Eytan Fox and producer Gal Uchovsky received the prize on his behalf.
The film's North American distribution will start late September and early October in NYC and LA respectively. Its distribution company Strand releasing will soon announce the exact dates.
Two weeks earlier, "Yossi & Jagger" won the Audience's Choice Award at the Turin Gay & Lesbian Film Festival.
